Designspiration

Designspiration.net is a collection of eh.. design inspiration. It's similar in someways to bookmarking site ffffound, but has image filtering and a rather nifty "search by colour" feature. It also bans nudity, unlike our good friends at ffffound.

Oil and Water Don Not Mix

Happiness Brussels and designer Anthony Burrill have created a limited edition poster: "Oil and Water Do Not Mix". What makes this poster unique is that it's printed with ink from the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. The oil was picked up on the beaches of Green isle, Louisiana and printed by Purple Monkey Design. More images here.

Thanks to Edwina for the link.

The Cooler Side of Football Posters

"Scoreline is a series of posters that graphically outline goals scored in classic football matches." I love these posters. So much so that I'm buying the one above. This is probably more mature than a Liverpool team poster on my wall.

Olly Moss and the Electronic Book

I really like the work of Olly Moss. I found his Movies in Black and Red before on a Flickr photostream but never looked at the rest of his site. His work is graphic and clever, my kind of thing. I especially like the cover he just completed for Penguin. I like my gadgets but I really hope the electronic book never takes off.

How have I neglected the brilliant UniversalEverything! I hang my head in shame that this hasn't been posted earlier.

I read about this guy in Computer Arts this month. When it comes to self promotion this guy is the king. He's turned his name into an international brand, and produced some really cool work. Especially this logo for Mash a bike company. I think I'll be taking a few pointers from him. Benny Gold.

Pie magazine. We need more magazines like this in Ireland...maybe I should start one. Love the cover image, I want it on a t-shirt.
Alex Camacho. Found this guy on the site I mentioned two posts ago. Some lovely typographic work. Check out the modular typography too.

Alberto Rodríguez is stereoplastics. Some really nice graphics work and illustration. I really liked this book above.

Goldmine! A huge collection of typographic posters...and links to all the designers. typo/graphic posters.com...I'm excited.

Through some random clicking I found this guy's work Tsaworks. I like the minimalist geometric style, it's very similar to what I'm trying to do in my own work. I love finding influences and inspirations first thing on a Friday morning!

British based McFaul studios have some lovely graffiti style illustration and graphic work. They also worked on the Havaianas Murals campaign. They also run a great blog that's worth checking out.

/M/A/S/H. Beautiful.

I had an odd feeling the other day as I walked through my local Spar. Some strange magnetic force (similar to that of the magnetic and gravitational pull of the earth and the sun coincidentally) drew me of course towards several cans of Pepsi. Never being one to buy Pepsi I was both confused and surprised. What invisible force was drawing me toward it? Then I found this. I suppose if you're going to get paid millions to redesign a logo, and end up producing what looks like the same logo you better be able to justify it.
