The Clone Tool for Video

Diminished Reality is a piece of software that can delete an object from live, full-motion video.
Developed by researchers at Technical University of Ilmenau in Germany, the software uses technology similar to the smudge tool in photoshop to first reduce the quality of an image, remove the image, and then improve the result incrementally until it has returned to full resolution.

Brilliant.

Some Friday Goodness

It's Friday and it's sunny, a rare occurrence in Ireland. And people are in a good mood, an even rarer occurrence. I'm off to have lunch on a boat in about ten minutes but before I head out I'll share some goodness I found on the internet today.

This article   by JP Manninen over at Venture Beat is well wrote a read. It's called "Dude where's my ad? How location will shake up advertising". What's it about? The clues in the name. It's one of the better articles I've read on location based advertising and augmented reality.

Voterpower is a great idea. Set up for the upcoming British elections, it shows you how effective your vote actually is based on your postcode.

This pixel based music video is amazing. I love the end credits they're a great finishing touch.

That's all for this Friday. There's a boat and plenty of alcohol waiting. Have a great weekend.

Google Intel and Sony explore Apps for TV

Google have teamed up with Intel and Sony to explore a platform that allows TV to use web apps for games and social networking. It's based on the Android OS and should be a very interesting development
in taking the web experience off the small screen and into the living room.

Prepare to be more addicted to Twitter, Facebook etc. I wonder what the experience would be like if they threw in some 3D TV and augmented reality.
