A Jolly Old Round-Up of Christmas Campaigns

Christmas is the time of year where ad agencies can flex their creative muscles and show their clients, and prospective clients, just how creative they are. So here is a round-up of all of the Christmas work that has come to my attention this year.

Mother London : Lappi Leaks


Mother London have released some shocking revelations from Santa's grotto on their twitter page under the #LappiLeaks hash tag. Highlight's include Donor's ongoing fight with Ketamine addiction, Tiger Wood's expulsion from Santa's Good List until he starts banging chicks and winning cups again, and that the 2009 Santa's Apprentice winner lost his job after the exposure of his reindeer porn ring. Saint@RKCR/Y&R (that's a mouthful): Twitter Knitter


Continuing the Twitter theme, Saint have produced the Twitter Knitter, a machine that produces scarfs bearing the wittiest Christmas tweets featuring the hash tag: #WarmUpCamden. The scarfs where gifted to the cold and needy of the Camden area where the agency is based. You can have a look at the results here.

The Monster Holiday Harmonizer : BBDO New York


Created for their client Monster, BBDO New York's Holiday Harmonizer let's you send Christmas greetings in an odd, auto-tuned, harmonized computer voice. You can write a simple email, type a message and make the Harmonizer sing, or go all out and record your very own song / message and listen to it back in all it's harmonized glory. Try it out here.

BBH : Holiday Alibis


BBH have produced this nifty little site that provides useful excuses, complete with evidence, to help you get some "you time" this Christmas and avoid awkward parties. Excuses include being trapped in a dream within a dream, alien abduction, and some rather dodgy Chinese food. Try it out here.

A Christmas Theme

We start this Monday morning with a Christmas theme. Here are 2 nice ideas using good old social media to spread a bit of Christmas cheer.




First up is Honda's "Naughty or Nice" app. An idea I'm sure a lot of people had, but this one is quite clever and well executed in my opinion. Instead of a test of some sort the app analysis' your status updates for the year recognising positive and negative words and delivering you with a naughty or nice result. The design of the machine is very nice and in reminiscent of famous Grrr campaign.


 Next up is this great idea by Regan Meador using twitter to play secret santa. By filling out a simple form the program picks a suitable recipient from your twitter network. It's an interesting use of social connections that are mostly anonymous. Very simple, very nice.
