3D Models Constructed From Flickr Images
Via BoingBoing:
"A UNC team has written an engine that scours Flickr for photos of a city, figures out which ones are images of the same place, analyzes them, and uses the results to build amazingly detailed 3D models -- all in less than a day, using a single PC."
Imagine the possibilities of this technology coupled with the right brand: Daft could use multiple shots of a house's exterior and interior to construct an online 3D walkthroughs of properties; tourism companies could offer 3D recreations of your holiday snaps; coupled with the 3D printing technology mentioned in an earlier post the right brand could offer 3D prints of whatever you shot in camera.
