Traffic Lights Re-Invented


It always amazes me how we can take something for granted for so long until someone comes along, changes it, and makes us see it completely differently. Thanva Tivawong's traffic lights are an example of this. Brilliantly simple and borrowing somewhat from the psychology behind the progress bar: that people will wait patiently if the length of the wait is indicated; her redesign, if implemented, could have a huge effect on decreasing the amount of road rage and traffic accidents. An interesting solution for a road safety client, or a city council.
