Morality and Computer Games

Gamasutra
has written this very interesting article on morality in gaming and it's well worth a read. I'm not a big gamer myself, but I believe as advertisers it's an area we need to learn more about. Foursquare and Gowalla are two examples of how gaming, advertising and social media have combined to form something quite impactful.

Interesting read. The main problem with morality in gaming is that it usually is very black and white, one extreme or the other. Bioshock, GTAIV, ANY Star Wars game where you can use a lightsaber...

I remember Black & White had a nice sliding scale of good/evil, but as it was a more gentle system it invariably had a lesser effect on the game as a result, so the balance is extremely difficult for any programmer/writer.
